BOSTON – Government relations strategist Joseph M. Donovan has been named to the founding advisory board for the UMass Lowell Research Institute. The Institute focuses on accelerating the nation’s industrial, security, and innovation base in support of the Department of Defense (DOD), small business, and the local and national economy.
Donovan has been involved in the Massachusetts and New England defense sector for more than 20 years, and his clients include Fortune 100 defense primes, numerous defense-focused small businesses, and research institutions supporting the DOD.
He serves as the chair of the New England Council’s defense working group, a board member for the Southeastern New England Defense Industry Alliance, and is an active member of the New England Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association and the New Hampshire Aerospace & Defense Export Consortium. Donovan earned a bachelor’s degree (Amherst) and master’s degree (Boston) from the University of Massachusetts and is an active alumnus.
