ORLANDO -- Each year, the Orlando Business Journal recognizes a select few women in Central Florida for their annual “Women who mean Business” award. This year Orlando Partner, Jo Thacker, was one of 20 women recognized.
This year’s theme was Pearls of Wisdom: How this year’s honorees overcame obstacles and came out shining. When asked how the events of 2020 changed her, Jo’s Pearl of Wisdom was this:
“They reminded me that leadership has many facets and brought into focus again that leadership is different each day for each situation, and you must be accessible – even virtually – and continue to always listen even if your team members are not speaking.”
Jo leads the Florida Real Estate Practice for the firm in Central and North Florida, with a team of approximately 11 lawyers focused on commercial real estate transactions and real estate development across the United States
2020 was a year of accomplishment for Jo as her team was also recognized in GlobeSt/Real Estate Forum’s 2020 List of Multifamily Influencers.
In addition to her leadership of the Practice Group, Jo is one of two female partners leading the Orlando office women’s affinity group called Women on the Go.
In spite of a grueling and time-consuming legal practice, Jo gives back to the community by being the Chairwoman in 2020 of The Howard Phillips Center for Children & Families Leadership Council and Chairwoman of the University of Florida Levin College of Law, Law Center Association Board of Trustees. She also serves as the Vice-Chair of the Osceola Regional Medical Center Board.
