IP Chair Mark Dukes Obtains Supreme Court of South Carolina Mediator and Arbitrator Certification

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Partner Mark C. Dukes, who chairs the Firm’s Intellectual Property Law and Litigation Group, has obtained Supreme Court of South Carolina Mediator and Arbitrator Certification.

A former Federal Circuit Law Clerk and United States Patent Examiner, Dukes brings more than 30 years of experience litigating and resolving complex commercial and intellectual property disputes in courts across the United States, as well as before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board, the European Patent Office, and international courts, including those in Germany, Sweden, Italy, Japan, China, and Taiwan.

Recognized as a creative and practical problem solver, Dukes has been tapped to serve as an early case evaluator, in addition to handling mediations and devising innovative solutions to resolve disputes on behalf of his clients.  Dukes now will combine his deep experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants and thoughtful approach to dispute resolution to benefit even more individuals and companies faced with seemingly intractable conflicts.

In addition to his mediation and arbitration practice, Dukes’ practice involves strategic counseling and litigation related to patents, trademarks, unfair trade practices, advertising, international law, and complex business arrangements. He leads a team of intellectual property law and litigation attorneys who handle litigation, patent preparation, prosecution, opinions, client counseling, and post-grant practice, including inter partes review. The team helps clients  manage and expand their worldwide patent and trademark portfolios, protect intellectual property rights, and avoid infringement pitfalls.
