ATLANTA - Georgia Trend magazine has recognized four Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP attorneys in three practice areas in its "2017 Legal Elite," a roster of Georgia attorneys selected with the most votes in their practice areas in ballots cast by their peers, according to the organization. Billy Ching and Phil Cooper have been recognized in corporate law, Lloyd Farr has been recognized in intellectual property, and Earle Taylor has been recognized in public finance and bond law.
Mr. Ching chairs the Firm’s private equity and venture capital practice group and provides strategic advice to companies, private equity funds, venture capital funds, and executive management related to buy-side acquisition structures and strategies, growth equity, venture capital and mezzanine financings, sell-side M&A transactions, portfolio and growth company operational matters, and incentive and executive compensation strategies.
Mr. Cooper focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, debt and equity finance, and general corporate counseling. He advises both publicly and privately held companies in a variety of industries, including financial services, insurance, staffing, energy, manufacturing, technology, and sports and entertainment. He also has experience assisting businesses in structuring, negotiating, and completing mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures and joint ventures.
Mr. Farr focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation, strategic intellectual property management and development, patent infringement and validity analyses, and licensing. He has experience in developing intellectual property portfolios, and in advising clients with regard to existing patents, in areas including software and computer systems, automotive and related systems, electronics, and radio frequency identification. He also has experience in patent litigation matters in the U.S. and Europe, including matters involving contested proceedings in the United States Patent & Trademark Office and the European Patent Office.
Mr. Taylor has more than 30 years of experience participating in public finance transactions raising billions of dollars in more than 15 states and territories, as well as for Indian tribes, to finance, among other things, airports; roads; mass transit facilities; water, sewer, gas, and electric facilities; higher educational and research facilities; healthcare facilities; elderly, multifamily, and single family housing; and variety of other publicly funded projects.
According to the publication, attorneys submit nominations online and are not allowed to vote for themselves. Attorneys can vote for members of their own firms only if they vote for an equal or greater number of attorneys outside their firms.
