ATLANTA — On the first day of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP partner Amy B. Cheng has been named by the Georgia Asian Times as one of 25 Most Influential Asian American Pacific Islanders in Georgia.
The list honors “the 25 Asian Americans Pacific Islander individuals who have make an impact in fields ranging from business, education, healthcare, community service, legislative to technology.” The list of honorees includes senators and other government officials, education professionals, CEOs, and a range of other individuals who excel and have made an impact in Georgia.
Cheng is a partner with the firm’s Atlanta office and specializes her practice in business and commercial matters, labor and employment counseling and litigation, and white-collar defense with an emphasis on healthcare fraud. She was recently elected as the president of the Atlanta Bar Association – becoming the first person in the Atlanta Bar’s 135-year history that is of Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander descent to serve as its president. Those selected for the list will be recognized during an awards ceremony on July 14 at 6 p.m. at the Sonesta Gwinnett Place in Duluth, Georgia.
In early 2023, Cheng was selected by the Atlanta Magazine, Atlanta’s premier general interest publication, as an honoree for its 2023 Women Making a Mark program for her significant contributions to the local community. In April 2022, Cheng was selected as an "On the Rise" honoree for the 2022 Georgia Legal Awards, recognizing Georgia’s most promising lawyers under the age of 40. A native of Charleston and graduate of Emory University (Bachelor of Science), University of South Carolina Arnold School of Public Health, and Emory University School of Law, Cheng joined Nelson Mullins in 2018.
