Partner Harsh Arora, left, and the Honorable Anuraag Singhal, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, participate in the Broward County Bar’s Diwali celebration and the diya lighting.
New Broward County President Alison Smith created a D&I committee that recently held the first of what the group hopes will be a long line of events and programs meant to increase awareness among the local bar community about different cultures. Nelson Mullins Fort Lauderdale partner Harsh Arora co-chairs the committee.
"The way it starts is by basically highlighting the heritage and backgrounds of those that come from different backgrounds," he said. "And so we're starting with a celebration, and then we plan on getting to more educational activities such as panel discussions with diverse attorneys and [members of the] judiciary, and also offering articles [in] the county bar's publications to spread the message and gain support and understanding."
