Columbia partner Jay Thompson recently spoke with the Archery Trade Association on how businesses can prepare for potential setbacks in anticipation of national health emergencies and other disasters.

Thompson said that ATA members should think about three different types of disasters:

  • Disasters that affect all businesses in an area.
  • Disasters that only affect your industry.
  • Disasters that only affect your business.

"All those things are very real things that most of us have either dealt with or heard of someone else who has," Thompson told the group. "Disasters are unpredictable, but with proper preparation, you can prevent or lessen the impact of these things."

Thompson serves the outdoor industry and consumer product manufacturers in the areas of consumer product safety counseling, regulatory compliance, and product liability litigation. He works closely with all consumer product manufacturers, including those in the outdoor industry who produce products designed to help people get outdoors.
