In an article published by The New York Times, Greenville-based partner Christopher Hanson spoke on potential changes to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) policy involving blood donation by gay and bisexual men.
"It’s an entirely powerful experience because you are giving blood to save lives," Hanson told The New York Times. "Knowing when you’re in a monogamous marriage that you’re being denied that ability, I said to myself, ‘I need to find other ways to help people.'" Hanson has been an advocate for changes in the FDA's policies on behalf of an LGBTQ health center in Washington D.C, according to the article.
