Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP was featured in a PV Magazine article on the efforts by wind and solar companies to find their footing in wholesale power markets. Because a myriad of regulations and policy changes from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and regional transmission organizations (RTOs) are continuing to impact opportunities for large-scale renewable energy projects across the country, the American Wind Energy Association formed the RTO Advisory Council to work alongside solar companies in order to effectively engage at FERC and RTOs.
Steven Shparber, of counsel in Nelson Mullins' Washington, D.C., office, has represented a coalition of solar companies before FERC and RTOs since April 2018, which were among the founding members of AWEA's RTO Advisory Council. Shparber and the Nelson Mullins energy team will continue to represent the combined wind and solar effort before FERC and RTOs as they work to create new market opportunities for renewable energy across the country.
