Maryland Legal Aid
Nelson Mullins attorney Ericka Downie was named Maryland Legal Aid pro bono attorney of the month.
"As lawyers, we are privileged to work in a profession that provides us with many opportunities. That privilege should always be balanced with helping those who might not otherwise have the means or ability to access legal services that are necessary for them to live their lives with dignity, fairness, and equity. Maryland Legal Aid makes that work possible for lawyers like me and so many others. Nelson Mullins is proud to work with such a fantastic organization," said Downie.
Downie brings to her practice over 20 years of experience in complex litigation involving pharmaceutical and medical device product liability, toxic tort and environmental litigation, and general tort liability claims. She provides legal representation to a wide variety of clients, including leading pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, and industrial manufacturers. She has served on trial teams involved in some of the most complex and high-profile litigations of the last two decades.
Maryland Legal Aid (MLA) provides life-changing civil legal assistance to eligible residents in every part of the State. Since 1911, MLA has provided high-quality legal services to low-income, and marginalized individuals and communities--helping them remedy their civil legal issues and become empowered to overcome challenges, achieve stability and independence, and an overall better life.
