Ending the Opioid Addiction Needs More Than Federal Funding

Modern Healthcare

In an article published on Oct. 24, 2017, in Modern Healthcare, Brad Sayles, of counsel in Nelson Mullins’ Nashville office, provides insight on President Trump’s highly anticipated declaration of the opioid epidemic as a national emergency. The article says that it is predicted the announcement will result in millions of dollars being opened up to states, but many hope the declaration will help address other aspects of the fight. Sayles says that the current laws monitoring a patient’s use and history with opioids needs improvement, “Ultimately there has to be a database established for monitoring this on a larger scale than has been done,” he said.
