U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved artificial intelligence-based algorithms are rapidly growing in number. These algorithms are, for the most part, designed to help healthcare providers implement existing workflows more efficiently in a variety of fields, the two most popular being cardiology and radiology. This article provides a high-level overview of recent developments in the world of artificial intelligence and attempts to identify some of the associated liabilities, particularly in the context of product liability.
