Like most of the world, your Carolina-Canada Connections has been on pause while we collectively navigated the Covid-19 crisis. With summertime here, and with coronavirus restrictions lifting in our home state of South Carolina and across North America, we’re excited to resume our regular installments of your Carolina-Canada Connections.
We’ve missed you!
US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross
US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross was in Greenville, South Carolina early this month to talk post-Covid 19 economic recovery with Governor Henry McMaster; Lt. Governor Pamela S. Evette; Greenville Mayor Knox White, your former US Ambassador to Canada, David Wilkins, and other key state and business leaders. Ross also toured area businesses instrumental in the fight against the coronavirus and addressed a business roundtable hosted by the Upstate Alliance focused on preparing for an expected economic come back in the coming months.
David Wilkins was thrilled to provide keynote remarks last month to a group of newly-minted Eagle Scouts receiving their well-deserved awards. In all, seven scouts from Upstate South Carolina received the coveted Eagle Scout Badge during the May 30 ceremony. Wilkins spoke to the scouts and their family about leadership and gratitude.
A proud Eagle Scout joins the ranks!
Patriotism on display!
Seal of approval!
Like we said, it’s summertime, and in normal times, that meant Wilkins was keeping up with his winging ways, flying to and fro across the continent keeping meetings and all the doings of our busy US-Canada bilat.
Now, like all of you, he’s doing that virtually, and grounded due to coronavirus, your former US ambassador did find time to make it down to his and Susan Wilkins’ favorite place in the whole wide world — Pawleys Island, SC — earlier this month. And, of course, what made it even mo’ betta was that’s where the grandkids were!
Nothing beats it for this proud Pop than Clary and Whit Wilkins and a Pawleys sunset.
