Sean Timmons Joins Nelson Mullins
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Sean A. Timmons, an experienced healthcare attorney who focuses on healthcare corporate transactions and complex regulatory issues for healthcare providers, has joined Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough's Healthcare Practice Group and is based in the Raleigh, N.C., office.
Mr. Timmons assists clients with corporate transactions between and among healthcare providers. His healthcare transactional experience includes assisting with joint ventures, including the formation and capitalization of surgery center joint venture vehicles involving investments by physicians and hospitals. He advises healthcare providers and entities on acquisition transactions. He has advised healthcare clients on the formation of business entities and medical practice buy-ins and buy-outs. In addition, he assists in negotiating professional services agreements and management agreements between and among physicians and hospitals.
Mr. Timmons' regulatory work includes advising clients on compliance with federal and state fraud and abuse laws and regulations and Medicare and Medicaid billing requirements including the federal healthcare program’s anti-kickback statute and the federal physician self-referral or “Stark” law. He defends clients in Medicare and Medicaid administrative proceedings and has assisted in responding to and negotiating resolutions of government investigations into Medicare and Medicaid billing practices. His clients include large and small physician practices, hospitals, ambulatory surgery facilities, individual healthcare practitioners, and other healthcare provider entities.
