COLUMBIA (Nov. 9, 2009) -- Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough's Marketing Department received an Award of Excellence from the International Association of Business Communicators - S.C .Chapter for outstanding achievements in communications during the annual Palmetto Awards ceremony Nov. 5.

The Firm's "Northern Lights" campaign received the top honor in the communications strategies category. The campaign also tied for the second-highest ranked submission from among 65 overall entries. Northern Lights is the communications plan developed and implemented surrounding Ambassador David Wilkins' return to South Carolina and his joining Nelson Mullins.

In addition, a second item, "Paying it Forward: Hitesh Tolani learns an important lesson from the benevolence of Burwell, Dietz, and Firm," by Nelson Mullins Communications Coordinator Jan Easterling, won an Award of Merit in the writing category.

The awards were judged by communications professionals in Atlanta, Charlotte and Houston.
