COLUMBIA – As a way to commemorate the fifth anniversary of September 11, 2001, Columbia area firefighters, police officers, sheriff's deputies and EMS personnel will have the opportunity to receive free wills through the Wills for Heroes Program on Monday, Sept. 11.

Attorneys will be available at Fire Station Number 1, 1800 Laurel St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The event is being hosted by the S.C. Bar Young Lawyers Division and Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins will be accommodated as soon as possible. To make an appointment, call Anthony Hayes at Nelson Mullins: 255-9416.

Mr. Hayes initiated Wills for Heroes following the devastating 9/11 terror attacks in which several hundred emergency personnel perished. Since its inception, Wills for Heroes has resulted in the pro bono preparation of more than 4,000 wills, health care powers of attorney, and living wills in several states across the country.
