'Legal Elite' Recognizes Nelson Mullins' Harlow

harlowRALEIGH (Jan. 6, 2010) – Business North Carolina magazine has named Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP partner David Harlow to its "2010 Legal Elite," a roster of North Carolina attorneys selected by their peers as the most effective in their practice areas. Mr. Harlow was selected for his intellectual property practice.

Mr. Harlow is a registered patent attorney who serves as team leader of the intellectual property practice in the firm’s Raleigh office. For more than 20 years, all aspects of trademark practice have been a substantial part of Mr. Harlow’s practice. Mr. Harlow has filed and prosecuted several hundred trademark applications, both domestic and foreign. His trademark licensing work has covered complex international and domestic issues in deals for Fortune 500 companies, and includes three licenses which had royalty streams valued in excess of $50 million. Mr. Harlow's practice also includes the litigation of intellectual property matters including trademark and copyright infringement and claims of trade secret misappropriation.

Business North Carolina magazine provides ballots to more than 19,000 members of the state bar to vote on whom they rate as the best in their fields. Respondents cannot vote for themselves, but can vote for other members of their firms as long as they vote for an equal or greater number from other firms. About 3 percent of the state's attorneys make the list, according to the publication.
