Our Myrtle Beach office, located along South Carolina's Grand Strand, hosts a small and rewarding Summer Program. The Myrtle Beach office hires summer associates with the goal that they may be offered associate positions upon graduation. Because the Myrtle Beach office is one of the smaller offices, its summer associate program is flexible in nature and may vary from year to year in its coordination and organization. Generally, summer associates work with a number of the attorneys in the office and are exposed to many practice areas. In addition to litigation, the practice in the Myrtle Beach office consists of a broad spectrum of corporate tax and securities issues, commercial real estate transactions and other complex commercial matters. Our attorneys make every effort to ensure that summer associates are given projects that parallel their legal interests. Our summer associates are encouraged to attend corporate closings, client interviews, depositions, court appearances, and other meetings outside of the office.
Summer associates may get to know all of the attorneys and many of the staff at planned social gatherings. The Myrtle Beach office often assigns mentors to summer associates, and informal mentoring occurs as well. Attorneys are urged to provide summer associates with feedback on projects throughout the course of their stay, and a formal evaluation is conducted prior to departure.
The Myrtle Beach office hosts a 12-week program, beginning mid-May and ending the first week in August. Students may be offered full or half-summer employment.
Current Summer Associate Salaries: $1,300 per week for First Year Summer Associates; $1,500 per week for Second Year Summer Associates.
We hire our summer associates in a variety of ways. Nelson Mullins' South
Carolina offices conduct on-campus interviews at USC, UNC, Duke, Vanderbilt
and Virginia. We also participate in the Southeastern Minority Job Fair and
the Southeastern Law Placement Consortium. Nelson Mullins' South Carolina offices
will also accept resumes from students who are unable to participate in on-campus
interviews. Please contact your career services office to determine the dates
of our visit to your campus or write directly to our Recruiting and Development Coordinator, Carolyn C. Early (P.O. Box 30519, Raleigh, N.C. 27622).
