Thomas A. Brumgardt is a partner and practices in the Firm’s Columbia and Charleston offices in the areas of corporate law, captive insurance and mergers and acquisitions.  Mr. Brumgardt is the leader of the Firm’s South Carolina captive insurance practice and advises clients on matters related to corporate governance, insurance regulatory issues, acquisitions and other corporate transactions. 

Admitted to practice in South Carolina, Mr. Brumgardt currently represents the Corporate, Banking and Securities Section of the South Carolina Bar as its delegate to the Bar’s House of Delegates and has previously served as chairman of the Section.  Mr. Brumgardt also currently serves as a director and as Treasurer of the South Carolina Captive Insurance Association, as well as Chairman of its Government Advisory Committee.  He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Richland County Bar Association, and the South Carolina Captive Insurance Association.  Mr. Brumgardt is the author of various articles regarding corporate and captive insurance topics.   

Mr. Brumgardt earned a Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2001, and a Bachelor of Science in Finance, magna cum laude, from the South Carolina Honors College at the University of South Carolina in 1998.
