Thomas A. Brumgardt is a partner and practices in the Firm’s Columbia and Charleston offices in the areas of corporate law, insurance regulation and mergers and acquisitions.  Mr. Brumgardt is the leader of the Firm’s South Carolina captive insurance practice and has extensive experience with insurance regulatory issues, mergers and acquisitions, corporate formation and governance issues, commercial contract issues and other corporate transactions.

Mr. Brumgardt currently serves as director and Treasurer of the South Carolina Captive Insurance Association and has been elected to serve as its President for 2012.  Mr. Brumgardt is an active member of the Corporate, Banking and Securities Section of the South Carolina Bar, and previously served in leadership roles for that Section including Chairman and delegate to the Bar’s House of Delegates.  Mr. Brumgardt is the author of various articles regarding corporate and captive insurance topics.    

Admitted to practice in South Carolina and the District of Columbia, he is a member of the American Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar Association, the D.C. Bar, the Richland County Bar Association and the South Carolina Captive Insurance Association. 

Mr. Brumgardt earned a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2001, and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the South Carolina Honors College at the University of South Carolina in 1998.
