Timothy E. Madden is the managing partner of the Firm's Greenville office, from which he practices statewide.  He spends most of his time in complex divorce or divorce-related litigation, particularly involving significant assets, income or other challenging financial issues, but also maintains an extensive general litigation and appellate practice in all courts, and handles land use matters.

Mr. Madden is a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, former president of the South Carolina Chapter, and certified as an arbitrator by this organization. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar and the Greenville County Bar.  He served seven terms as a member of the House of Delegates for the South Carolina Bar. He is also a certified arbitrator by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

Mr. Madden serves on the faculty of the Houston Family Law Trial Institute at the South Texas College of Law, taught family law in the paralegal program at Greenville Technical College, wrote the chapter on marital dissolution and child custody for the South Carolina Practice Manual (Howard/Moise ed. 2000), served on the editorial board for the treatise Marital Litigation in South Carolina (Stuckey), taught at the orientation program for new family court judges, and speaks at various seminars sponsored by the South Carolina Bar and other organizations.  He is listed in the Best Lawyers in America (2000-2012) and was named named the Best Lawyers' 2012 Greenville Family Law Lawyer of the Year. He is listed in the 2008-2012 editions of South Carolina Super Lawyers (among the top 25 in 2008).

Mr. Madden serves as chairman of the South Carolina Education Lottery Commission and as a director of Welvista and the Upcountry History Museum. He also is a member of The Palmetto Bank’s Greenville Community Advisory Board. His previous community service includes the Greenville County Transportation Committee and the South Carolina Transportation Infrastructure Bank, and the South Carolina Student Loan Corporation. 

Mr. Madden is a recipient of the Compleat Lawyer Award from the University of South Carolina Law School Alumni Association. He is also a Liberty Fellow, a program modeled after the Aspen Institute's Henry Crown Fellowship Program.

Mr. Madden earned a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1988, and a bachelor of arts degree in Finance from Wofford College in 1985.
