Stuart M. Andrews is a partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP. He practices in Columbia where he leads the Firm's South Carolina Healthcare Group. Having been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America and South Carolina Super Lawyers for his practice in health law, Mr. Andrews represents hospitals, health systems, physicians, and ancillary providers in a wide range of regulatory and litigation matters, including governmental investigations, hospital-physician disputes, Certificates of Need, compliance matters, medical staff credentialing, and contractual disputes.

Mr. Andrews is a member of the South Carolina Bar (Hospital and Health Law Committee, 1988-present; chairman, 1993-94) and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. He is a member of the American Bar Association, American Health Lawyers Association, and the Richland County Bar Association. Mr. Andrews has served on numerous statewide task forces responsible for the development of recommendations concerning healthcare policy in South Carolina. In 1989, he was appointed clinical assistant professor of preventive medicine and community health at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Additionally, Mr. Andrews has served as adjunct professor of health law at the University of South Carolina School of Law.

A leader in professional and civic affairs, Mr. Andrews was recognized in 2007 as the Charles Dorsey Award recipient by the National Legal Aid and Defender Association and was named South Carolina Bar Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year in 2005. He also has been selected as an American Bar Association Foundation Fellow. Mr. Andrews has served as chairman of numerous organizations and initiatives, including South Carolina Legal Services, Appleseed Legal Justice Center, the South Carolina State Board of Education, the American Red Cross, South Carolina Blood Services Region, Columbia Academy, the S.C. Access to Justice Task Force, and Nelson Mullins' nationally recognized Pro Bono Program. Mr. Andrews also has been the leader of the Nelson Mullins Corporate, Tax and Securities Group.

Prior to joining Nelson Mullins, Mr. Andrews was a staff attorney with Palmetto Legal Services and executive director of the S.C. Legal Services Association.

Mr. Andrews earned a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1978. During law school, he received the American Jurisprudence Award in Civil Procedure and was a member of the Moot Court Bar. He attended Princeton Theological Seminary in 1973 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in American History from Erskine College in 1972.
