Robert H. McWilliams, Jr. is an associate based in the Charlotte office who practices in the areas of intellectual property law and litigation. A member of the North Carolina Bar, Mr. McWilliams is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Mr. McWilliams earned his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, in 2009 from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, cum laude, in 2006 from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
During law school, Mr. McWilliams was named to the Order of the Coif and the Order of the Wig & Robe. He was an associate editor-in-chief of the South Carolina Law Review and received CALI Awards in Civil Procedure I and II, Transnational Law, Trademarks & Unfair Competition, Patent Law, and Administrative Law. Mr. McWilliams was a student member of the John Belton O’Neall Inn of Court.
He is the author of “Negligent Entrustment in South Carolina: An Analysis of South Carolina’s Consistent Application and Inconsistent Statements of the Standard After Gadson v. ECO Services of South Carolina Inc.,” 59 S.C. L. Rev. 633.
