Reid T. Sherard is a partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP who practices in his native city of Greenville in the areas of family law and litigation. In 2012, he was selected for inclusion in Thomson Reuters' South Carolina Super Lawyers as a "Rising Star" for his family law practice. In 2011, he completed the Houston Family Law Trial Institute, and has tried cases in the family court as well as other federal, state, and local courts. He also has argued successfully before both the Supreme Court of South Carolina and the South Carolina Court of Appeals.

A member of the South Carolina Bar, Mr. Sherard is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. 

Prior to joining Nelson Mullins in 2005, Mr. Sherard served as a law clerk for now Senior United States District Court Judge G. Ross Anderson, Jr. of the District of South Carolina.

In 2004, Mr. Sherard earned a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law.  While in law school, he was named to the Order of the Wig and Robe, served on the ABA Real Property, Probate, and Trust Journal editorial board, and was elected chairman of the honor council.  In 2001, Mr. Sherard earned a Master of Letters in Strategic Studies, with distinction, from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, where he studied on a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship.  In 2000, Mr. Sherard earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, magna cum laude, from the University of South Carolina Honors College.  While in college, Mr. Sherard was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and received the Steven N. Swanger Award.

Mr. Sherard serves on the Board of Managers of the South Carolina Historical Society and previously served for several years on the University of South Carolina Board of Visitors.  He recently completed two terms as the elected representative for the 13th Judicial Circuit of the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyer's Division, is a graduate of Leadership Greenville Class 33, and in 2007 was named "Best and Brightest, 35 and Under" by Greenville Magazine.  He also serves as a youth basketball coach at his church.
