Timothy J. Fitzgibbon is the managing partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP's Washington, D.C. office, where he practices in the areas of commercial litigation, commercial arbitration, federal agency practice, and telecommunications law. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar, the New York State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Federal Communications Bar Association. Mr. Fitzgibbon has over 20 years experience in practicing law in Washington. Before joining Nelson Mullins, Mr. Fitzgibbon was a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of a law firm based on Wall Street and previously was an associate in the Washington, D.C. office, of another New York based law firm.

Mr. Fitzgibbon’s experience includes representing clients in litigation before federal and state courts and in regulatory proceedings before federal and state administrative agencies. He represents clients in matters involving antitrust, communications and technology, corporate governance and internal investigations, privacy, insurance coverage, and commercial disputes. He regularly represents clients in rulemaking, licensing, forfeiture, enforcement, and other proceedings before the Federal Communications Commission and other federal and state agencies. He also advises clients on compliance with the federal Telemarketing Sales Rule, the CAN-SPAM Act, and on other privacy-related issues.  He also advises trade associations on antitrust compliance and in negotiations with conference centers, hotels, and transportation providers.

Mr. Fitzgibbon earned a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center, cum laude, in 1983. While in law school, Mr. Fitzgibbon was the recipient of the Lawyers Cooperative American Jurisprudence Award for Excellence in Constitutional Law. He also served as a staff member for the American Criminal Law Review. In 1977, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service degree, cum laude, from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service.
