Paul T. Collins is of counsel to Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in Columbia where he practices in the areas of civil litigation, insurance litigation, product liability, construction litigation, breach of warranty, and dealer litigation.
Mr. Collins is a member of the South Carolina Bar, the American Bar Association, and the Richland County Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in South Carolina and the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina.
As lead counsel, Mr. Collins has tried over 20 cases to verdict. Mr. Collins has served as lead counsel in cases in South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi, and Florida. He has appeared in the Circuit Courts of all forty-six counties in South Carolina. Notably, Mr. Collins has served as lead counsel in complicated insurance coverage disputes, complex cases involving multiple parties and jurisdictions, and has successfully defended cases involving substantial bodily injury.
Mr. Collins served in the United States Army from 1987-91. In 1988, Mr Collins received the Army Achievement Medal for his service with an infantry detachment responsible for patrolling the East German Border. In 1991, he received the Army Commendation Medal for his service with the 101st Airborne Division in the Gulf War. During his time in service, Mr. Collins also received his Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and Combat Infantryman Badge.
Mr. Collins earned a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2002. In 1999, Mr. Collins earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, with a concentration in Political Theory, from the University of South Carolina.
