Mr. Claypoole practices in the area of business, community association, and commercial real estate law.  He represents real estate developers, investors and financial institutions in transactions involving timberland, golf, hotel and resort property, land sales registrations and development agreements.  He has experience with the development, documentation and operation of planned and mixed-use communities, including condominiums, condominium hotels, hotels, rental management programs, homeowners' association covenants and bylaws, restrictions, easements and condominium master deeds.

Recent transactions he has handled include the acquisition and development of a mixed-use planned community at foreclosure sale, acquisition of unsold lots and amenities of a private club community, sale of timberland tracts by a land management company and acquisition of industrial property for a variety of companies.

Mr. Claypoole is a member of the South Carolina Bar, the American Bar Association (Hotels, Resorts, and Tourism committee) and a founding member and director of The First Tee of Greater Charleston.

Mr. Claypoole earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Duke University and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of South Carolina School of Law where he was named to the Order of the Coif and the Order of Wig and Robe and served as Editor in Chief of the ABA Real Property, Probate and Trust Journal.
