Mr. Nickerson concentrates his practice in complex business and intellectual property litigation, focusing on the protection of intellectual property through effective methods of trademark, copyright and trade secret litigation. Mr. Nickerson is a member of the Firm’s Online Brand Equity and Strategic Distribution, Consumer Finance, and Domain Names Practice Groups.
Mr. Nickerson’s practice focuses on monitoring the unauthorized and fraudulent use of clients’ trademarks and copyrighted material on the Internet. He has extensive experience in protecting the world’s leading brand names from online infringement and has litigated cutting-edge online infringement cases in both state and federal courts. Mr. Nickerson was part of the trial team that obtained the first contributory counterfeiting judgment against an SEO company for its optimization of a website selling counterfeit products. Similarly, he was part of the litigation team that obtained the first ex parte seizure and impoundment order of a defendant’s records of infringement in Massachusetts using recently enacted portions of the PRO-IP Act. Mr. Nickerson is highly skilled in preventing and stopping both “gray market” imports and “black market” counterfeit products by using innovative techniques developed in conjunction with the Firm’s Online Brand Equity and Strategic Distribution Group.
Mr. Nickerson was recognized as a 2011 Massachusetts Super Lawyers "Rising Star" in the field of intellectual property litigation.
Mr. Nickerson is an active member of the Intellectual Property and Antitrust sections of both the American Bar Association and the Boston Bar Association.
Mr. Nickerson is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the First Circuit Court of Appeals. He earned his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School, where he was a member of the Moot Court Honor Board and the Journal of Trial and Appellate Advocacy. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

- Roger Cleveland Golf Co. Inc. v. Prince (2011), South Carolina Federal District Court - $770,000 jury verdict against SEO Company for optimizing a website that was selling counterfeit products.
- Bose Corporation v. Bahar, et al. (2011), Massachusetts Federal District Court - $2,200,000 Judgment in favor of Bose Corporation resulting from defendants' sale of counterfeit products.
- Roger Cleveland Golf Co. Inc. v. Kingsport Golf, Inc. (2010), Northern District of Georgia Federal District Court –$1,000,000 Consent Judgment awarded to Cleveland Golf resulting from defendant's sale of infringing golf clubs.
- Bose Corporation, et al. v. Zavala (2010), Massachusetts Federal District Court – obtained ex parte seizure order of infringing DVD players and records evidencing the sale and distribution of the same.
- Roger Cleveland Golf Co., Inc. v Cinicolo (2009), Massachusetts Federal District Court – Obtained favorable confidential settlement agreement resulting from the authorized distribution of golf clubs.
