Merritt G. Abney is an associate of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP who practices in Charleston in the area of healthcare, financial institutions, and business litigation.

A member of the South Carolina Bar, Mr. Abney is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Charleston County Bar Association and the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys' Association.

In 2003, Mr. Abney earned a Juris Doctor from the Vanderbilt University Law School, where he was named to the Order of the Coif and received the Vanderbilt Scholastic Excellence Award in Health Law and Policy and a Vanderbilt Public Service Award. In 1999, Mr. Abney earned a Bachelor of Arts in English, cum laude, with high honors, from Davidson College, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
