Melissa Allaman is of counsel to Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough in its Tallahassee office. She represents car, truck, and motorcycle manufacturers and importers in civil and administrative litigation against motor vehicle dealers throughout the United States and in federal and state warranty and Lemon Law cases. She also provides advice and consultation to manufacturers and importers on dealer related issues throughout the United States. She has extensive litigation experience in a broad range of federal, state, and administrative cases, including dealer terminations/additions/relocations and commercial, civil, professional and environmental licensing matters, and governmental procurement and bid protests.
Ms. Allaman has practiced in Tallahassee since 1977. She has participated in jury and non-jury trials, appellate arguments, and appearances in all state and federal courts in Florida, and numerous trials and appearances before administrative hearing bodies, including the Division of Administrative Hearings.
She has assisted clients in state and local government procurement matters and bid protest proceedings. She has represented clients before many Florida Executive Branch agencies, including cabinet-level agencies, other regulatory departments, the Executive Clemency Board, and the Environmental Regulation Commission. General administrative experience in Florida includes proposed and adopted rule challenges, bid protests and declaratory statements, ethics cases, environmental cases including permitting and compliance cases, sovereignty submerged boundary cases and CERCLA actions, and professional licensure applications, denials and disciplinary actions.
Ms. Allaman serves on the Northern District Federal Magistrate Selection Committee, which nominates candidates to the Northern District Federal Bench for selection as full or part-time magistrates. She has served in the past as a member of the First District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Committee and the Florida Bar Grievance Committee for the Second Judicial Circuit.
She earned her Juris Doctor, with honors, from Florida State University College of Law in 1976 and a Bachelor of Arts in 1974 from Florida State University.
