John C. Stewart, Jr. is a partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in Myrtle Beach where he practices in the areas of real estate, commercial law and banking law. Mr. Stewart has extensive experience in commercial real estate and both lender and borrower representation.

A member of the South Carolina Bar, Mr. Stewart is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Military Appeals, and the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Horry County Bar Association and the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys' Association.

Mr. Stewart served as vice chairman of the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base Redevelopment Authority from 1994-99, and as chairman of the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base Redevelopment Commission from 1992-93. He served as a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission, City of Myrtle Beach from 1990-93, and on the Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline, 1990-93. From 1970-74, he served with the U.S. Air Force as a captain in the Judge Advocate General Corps.

Mr. Stewart currently serves on the National Bank of South Carolina Myrtle Beach Advisory Board (1992- present), Dunes Golf and Beach Club Board of Directors (2005-present), and the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum Board of Trustees (2008-present).

In 1970, Mr. Stewart earned a Juris Doctor from Tulane University Law School where he was a member of Phi Alpha Delta and the Tulane Moot Court Board (presiding judge, 1969-70). He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The Citadel in 1967.
