Jay Fee is of counsel to Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough in its Boston office. He has concentrated his practice in sports business law for the past 18 years. He is co-chair of the Firm's Sports Business Law practice group, which serves a variety of entities such as colleges and universities, corporations, professional sports franchises, facility owners/operators, developers, concessionaires, naming rights holders and sponsors, broadcast networks, media rights holders, sports executives, and governmental entities such as sports and convention authorities.

Prior to joining Nelson Mullins, Mr. Fee began his career serving as an Undersecretary for Budget and Finance in the Massachusetts Governor’s Executive Office of Human Services. Mr. Fee later worked at another Boston firm where he negotiated large mitigation settlements with the Massachusetts and Federal Highway Administrations on behalf of two large Boston property owners impacted by the multibillion dollar project known as “The Big Dig.” In 2008, he successfully represented family members threatened with eminent domain and the loss of a business and a building in New York City as a result of Columbia University’s 14-block campus expansion plan on Broadway. Mr. Fee recently represented a global consumer electronics company, completing negotiations on a multi year national sponsorship agreement with the National Football League and regional agreements with NFL member clubs. He has been a National Hockey League Players Association certified agent for eighteen years and has negotiated well over $275 million dollars in player contracts. He has also negotiated many marketing and endorsement agreements with companies such as PepsiCo, Nike, Southern Company, EMC, and Fleet Bank (now Bank of America).

Suffolk University Law School appointed Mr. Fee an adjunct professor, where his course covers sports law issues, including NCAA eligibility regulations and Title IX, Player/Agent relationships; Professional Contracts; Salary Arbitration; Antitrust Law; Collective Bargaining and Labor Law; Media Rights, Sponsorships; and Intellectual Property.

Mr. Fee earned his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School, with honors, in 1986. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with honors, from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1977.

For the past 18 years Mr. Fee has served on the Board of Directors of the Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care, a Boston-based Foundation providing care and support to cancer patients and their families.
