Jared Q. Libet is an associate of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP who practices in Columbia in the areas of litigation, corporate law; information management, technology law, and ERISA and employee benefits. In addition, he has a particular focus in the areas of E-Discovery and Litigation Readiness, Privacy and Information Security, Records and Document Management , Vendor Management , Website Legal Review, Class Action Defense , Business Litigation, Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Litigation, and Product Liability. A member of the South Carolina Bar, Mr. Libet is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, and the Richland County Bar Association. 
 
Mr. Libet is the co-author of "South Carolina’s New Financial Identity Fraud and Identity Theft Protection Act: What Does It Mean to You?," published in The Higher Standard, January 2009, “Lost Laptops and Personal Financial Information: What Does South Carolina’s New Identity Fraud Act Mean to Businesses?” published in South Carolina Lawyer, September 2008, and “To Hold or Not to Hold? That is the Question,” an article discussing litigation holds in the context of the Amended Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, published in DRI’s e-Discovery Connection, April 13, 2007.
 
Currently, Mr. Libet serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Glee Club Alumni and Friends Association in Charlottesville, Va.

Mr. Libet earned a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2006. While in law school, he was the technology editor of the South Carolina Law Review. Mr. Libet is the author of “Changes in Administrative Agency and Legal Practice in South Carolina Following State v. Peake” – 56 S.C.L. Rev. 627 and “South Carolina Enacts New Privacy Legislation.” He was the recipient of the Carolina Legal Scholars Scholarship. In 2003, Mr. Libet earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Systems and Information Engineering with a minor in Economics from the University of Virginia School of Engineering and Applied Science.
