James M. Tucker is a partner in Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough’s Charlotte office. He has extensive experience in originating and servicing commercial mortgage loans, including all types of traditional balance-sheet loans, commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), mezzanine and equity financing, participations and loan acquisitions and sales. Additionally, he has developed significant experience in financing and servicing complex tenancy-in-common and Delaware Statutory Trust structures. Mr. Tucker also assists traditional real estate clients with the acquisition, disposition, development, and exchange of commercial real estate.
Mr. Tucker is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Tenant-In-Common Association.
His representative transactions include:
- Representing a major national banking association in its capacity as originating lender and master servicer in more than 200 separate fixed and floating rate CMBS loans with tenancy-in-common structures, representing more than $4 billion in debt.
- Representing multiple national lenders in their capacity as originating lenders in traditional fixed rate and floating rate CMBS loans representing more than $7 billion in debt.
- Representing a major national banking association in its capacity as originating lender in providing more than $140 million in senior and mezzanine financing for the acquisition of a trophy office building in downtown Philadelphia.
- Representing a major national banking association in its capacity as originating lender in providing more than $200 million in senior and mezzanine financing for the acquisition of two trophy office and retail buildings in downtown Cincinnati.
He earned his Juris Doctor with high honors in 1999 from the University of Iowa College of Law, where he served on the Iowa Law Review. He earned a Bachelor of Arts with highest honors in 1996 from the University of Florida.
