Elizabeth Herlong Campbell is of counsel to Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP and practices in Columbia in the areas of business litigation and appellate. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Campbell was associated with another South Carolina firm where she practiced primarily in the areas of appellate, employment and general litigation. Following graduation from law school, Ms. Campbell served as law clerk to Judge Robert F. Chapman of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

A member of the South Carolina Bar, Ms. Campbell is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. Ms. Campbell has served as co-counsel representing a client in a landmark sovereign immunity case before the United States Supreme Court, in which the client prevailed. She is the author of U.S. Supreme Court Reinforces the Armor of the States’ Sovereign Immunity, S.C. Lawyer, Sept./Oct. 2002, at 48; and "Survey, Court Abolishes Alienation of Affections," 45 S.C. L. REV. 218 (1993). She also co-authored Preserving Errors: Get Your Appeal Ducks in a Row, S.C. Lawyer, July 2004, at 20. Ms. Campbell is a member of the American Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, the Richland County Bar Association, and the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association.

In 1994, Ms. Campbell earned a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of South Carolina School of Law where she was named to The Order of the Coif.  During law school, Ms. Campbell was Student Works Editor of the South Carolina Law Review and was a member of the Order of Wig and Robe and the John Belton O'Neall Inn of Court. She received American Jurisprudence Awards for Federal Practice, Civil Procedure I, and Introduction to Legal Research and Lawyering Skills. Ms. Campbell earned a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of South Carolina in 1990.
