Eleni M. Roumel is a partner of Nelson Mullins Riley and Scarborough LLP in the Firm's Charleston office where she works on complex commercial litigation, securities, intellectual property, and trade secret matters.  She defends companies in shareholder derivative and class actions, including in securities fraud and Fair Credit Reporting Act matters.  She also defends individuals and corporations in cases involving allegations of breach of fiduciary duty, unfair trade practices, and breach of commercial agreements.  Ms. Roumel advises companies on intellectual property issues and litigates cases involving trademark, copyright, and patent infringement.  

Ms. Roumel is an adjunct professor at the Charleston School of Law, where she teaches intellectual property.  She is also a member of the S.C. Bar's Leadership Academy Class of 2011. In 2012, she was selected for inclusion in Thomson Reuters' "Super Lawyers Rising Stars" list.

Prior to joining Nelson Mullins, Ms. Roumel practiced in New York City with Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr LLP and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where her practice included litigation and corporate matters involving securities, intellectual property, white collar, and insurance issues.  She also worked on several internal investigations for publicly traded companies, with reporting to audit committees, the US Attorneys' Office, and the SEC.  

Ms. Roumel also served as a law clerk to United States District Judge William H. Pauley III, in the Southern District of New York. 

A member of the South Carolina and New York Bars, she is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth and Fifth Circuits and the United States District Courts for South Carolina and the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.  She is a member of the James L. Petigru American Inn of Court, American Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, South Carolina Women Lawyers Association, South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys' Association, and the Charleston Bar.  

Ms. Roumel is active in the Charleston community and serves on Charleston's Colonial Commons and Ashley River Embankment Commission.  Ms. Roumel has been awarded a pro bono award for her community service.  

Ms. Roumel earned her law degree, magna cum laude, from Tulane University Law School, where she was named to the Order of the Coif and served as a Notes and Comments Editor for the Tulane Law Review.   She earned an M.B.A. from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University.  She holds a bachelor's degree in politics, cum laude, from Wake Forest University.
