Charles E. Dunlap is based in the Greenville office of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP where he practices in the areas of intellectual property law and litigation, and technology law and litigation. Dr. Dunlap represents and counsels clients on chemical and biotechnology patents and on trademarks, copyrights, and unfair competition. He has extensive experience in the preparation and prosecution of patent and trademark applications, and provides opinions regarding patentability and the infringement of patents. Licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Dr. Dunlap counsels clients in all manner of technology development.

A member of the South Carolina Bar and the Missouri Bar, Dr. Dunlap is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, and the Greenville County Bar Association.

Prior to joining Nelson Mullins, Dr. Dunlap practiced in intellectual property law with a leading St. Louis firm, and served as adjunct professor at Washington University's School of Engineering and Olin School of Business. He has served on the chemical engineering faculty of the University of Missouri and has managed technology development for several leading U.S. industrial companies.

Dr. Dunlap earned a Juris Doctor from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law in 1992 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana State University in 1969. He earned a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana State University in 1967 and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute in 1964.
