Anthony C. Hayes is a partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in Columbia where he practices in litigation with a focus on product liability and class action litigation.

Mr. Hayes is a member of the South Carolina Bar, the Florida Bar, the Bar of the District of Columbia and the State Bar of New York. He is also admitted to practice before the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern District of Florida, the District of South Carolina and the districts of New York.

Mr. Hayes is prominently involved with the firm's pro bono program where he initiated and developed Wills for Heroes, a project that provides complimentary wills for emergency first response personnel throughout South Carolina.  He also coordinated relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina by establishing United for Disaster Relief and S.C. Cares, local non-profit organizations devoted to the relief effort. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Richland County Bar Association, and the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys' Association. Prior to joining Nelson Mullins, Mr. Hayes was associated with a leading law firm in Miami, Florida, where he practiced in the areas of product and premises liability. He previously served as law clerk to Judge Mark Polen of the Fourth District Court of Appeals for Florida.

Mr. Hayes earned a Juris Doctor from Tulane University School of Law in 1995. As a law student, he clerked for Judge Joan Armstrong of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals for Louisiana, and wrote for DICTA, the legal paper of Tulane. Mr. Hayes earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Mary Washington College in 1990.
