Amy Rash Smith is an associate of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in Columbia where she practices in the area of litigation, and focuses on business litigation, product liability, automobile liability and pharmaceutical and medical device litigation.
Ms. Smith serves as one of the coordinating counsel in national pharmaceutical mass tort litigation.
A member of the South Carolina Bar, Ms. Smith is admitted to practice before the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. Ms. Smith is a member of the American Bar Association, the Richland County Bar Association, and the Defense Research Institute.
Ms. Smith has also been admitted to practice pro hac vice in state and/or federal court in Texas and New Jersey.
In 2000, Ms. Smith earned a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law where she participated in the Juvenile Justice Clinic. She won first place in the Second Year Moot Court Competition, served as chief justice of the Moot Court Bar, and was a captain at the 1999 ABA National Moot Court Competition. Additionally, she was a member of the Order of the Barristers and the John Belton O'Neall Inn of Court. Prior to law school, Ms. Smith worked for Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife, Lynne, at the America Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C. Ms. Smith earned a Bachelor of Arts in French and Political Science from Washington and Lee University in 1994.
