Amy E. Mandragouras is a partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP and is the Managing Partner of the Firm’s Boston office. Ms. Mandragouras has more than 20 years of experience in intellectual property matters and provides strategic counseling in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, chemistry, and sustainable energy.
Ms. Mandragouras advises clients in developing and implementing intellectual property strategies, through all phases of their development from start-up through maturity, through financing, and in the formation of strategic alliances. Her technical experience includes proteins, peptides and antibodies, nucleic acids, drugs, and drug discovery technologies.
Ms. Mandragouras works closely with life sciences companies to build strong patent portfolios to protect new biological and pharmaceutical products and related technologies. She has extensive experience in intellectual property due diligence, patentability, validity and infringement opinions, licensing, and the preparation and prosecution of patents. Ms. Mandragouras has particular knowledge in evaluating intellectual property assets for companies and investors in connection with collaborations, acquisitions, licensing, and financing.
Notable experience includes:
- Developing IP strategies for leading biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies to protect monoclonal antibody products in the fields of Alzheimer’s disease, autoimmune disease, and cancer.
- Representing a privately held biotechnology company in preparing its IP portfolio prior to its multi-million dollar acquisition by a leading research-based pharmaceutical company.
- Leading a team in conducting an extensive IP due diligence review of an antibody discovery company prior to its acquisition by a Japanese pharmaceutical company.
Ms. Mandragouras is a frequent speaker and has contributed to publications including:

A member of the Massachusetts Bar, she is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, District of Massachusetts, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Ms. Mandragouras is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Boston Bar Association, the Boston Patent Law Association, the Licensing Executives Society, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Women’s Entrepreneurs in Science and Technology, and the Women’s Bar Association (WBA) and serves on the WBA’s Women’s Leadership Initiative Task Force. She is named on the Massachusetts Super Lawyers list (2005-2011).
Ms. Mandragouras is a board member of Windrush Farm Therapeutic Equitation, a nonprofit horse farm specializing in teaching physically, emotionally, and learning disabled children and adults to ride and work with horses.
She earned her Juris Doctor from Northeastern University School of Law in 1992. In 1988, Ms. Mandragouras earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Bates College.
